The month of October is proving to be busy for art shows and for new releases of limited editions of art. I created a new graphic based on my mask painting using some new technology from Adobe as an experiment. It has a very Andy Warhol feel and my wife loves the image. It’s currently on the home page of this website and it has some great colors.
The image is being released as a limited edition on 50 prints and 50 t-shirts signed and numbered starting at the Victoria MN event October 26, 2024 at the civic center. It will be available for a limited time on the website after the event is over.
The image was created using a beta release of Adobe Photoshop so it may literally be a one-off possibility as the feature I used may not make it into the general release of the product or it may make it but be changed in a way that the end result isn’t possible anymore. So this may truly be a one of a kind image never again available and never again possible. Frankly, it was almost an accident in the first place that the image was created as I was experimenting with the beta feature and happened on something so interesting that it stopped me cold.
The mask is an image based on the idea that we all wear masks to hide from the world. As children, we wear masks to pretend to be something else. This image is the mask we wear as a child as we pretend to be what we want to be when we grow up and we hide who we really are behind the mask. Hiding behind the mask is preparation for growing up and we try on lots of masks as children in preparation for adulthood.
